Hello. My name is Melody Evans. Welcome to my practice, Can’t We Just Get Along Counseling? The name of my practice is unconventional, but I believe it reflects a truth about life and human relationships: at some point, we all struggle to get along with someone in our lives. It may be a person we work with, live with, are in love with, or even ourselves. This disruption can profoundly affect people’s mental health. As the founder and senior therapist of Can’t We Just Get Along Counselling, my company’s mission is to assist in alleviating psychological pain caused by trauma and relationship issues. I treat all individuals, couples, families and teens.
My over 20 years of experience in relationship therapy allow me to assist couples in changing their communication and connection. My practice focuses on two areas of specialty: EMDR Trauma therapy and Gottman couples’ therapy. I have an approachable, caring, and client-centred focus. Holding two designations, one as a Clinical Psychologist and the other as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family therapy from Loma Linda University and level 2 training from The Gottman Institute in the Gottman Couples Therapy Method. I am also a Trauma/PTSD expert who specializes in EMDR, a form of trauma therapy that stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Through EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) I am a certified EMDR therapist and approved EMDR consultant. I enjoy working with provisional psychologists and am an approved clinical supervisor for my licensure board, CAP (The College of Alberta Psychologists).Â
I am the authorized Seven Principles Program Educator.Â
People often ask me if being a psychologist isn’t challenging. I say the opposite. It’s inspiring to see humans’ resilience to change.  I love the Gottman-Method of couples therapy and EMDR and believe in the research-based skills it teaches couples’ work. I would love to help you improve your life and relationships. I look forward to meeting you soon.
