Marissa Keeler

registered Provisional psychologist

Bottom blue wave

Sometimes life can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, from the people we love, or from the life we hoped we would be living. Marissa Keeler is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who believes lasting healing begins when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. She creates a warm, inviting space where clients can explore difficult emotions while being gently encouraged to grow. Her style is collaborative, compassionate, and practical.

Marissa works alongside clients to help them better understand themselves, strengthen emotional awareness, develop effective coping strategies, and build skills that support lasting change. She believes therapy should help clients feel supported while giving them practical tools they can use between sessions and long after therapy ends.

Who Marissa Works With

Adolescents

The teenage years can be overwhelming. Between friendships, family relationships, school pressures, identity development, and increasing independence, many teens struggle to understand their emotions or to communicate what they are experiencing.

Marissa enjoys helping adolescents overcome:

She works collaboratively with teens to build confidence, emotional awareness, and practical skills they can use now and throughout adulthood.

Adults

Life seldom unfolds exactly as we plan.

Many adults find themselves feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, depression, relationship difficulties, career pressures, parenting, or major life transitions.

Marissa helps adults manage challenges including:

Together, clients explore recurring patterns, better understand their emotions, and make changes that align with the life they want to build.

Couples

Healthy relationships require more than love—they also require emotional safety, effective communication, and the ability to repair after conflict.

Marissa has a particular passion for helping couples reconnect after periods of conflict, emotional distance, betrayal, or major life transitions.

She works with couples experiencing:

Using Gottman Method Couples Therapy and evidence-based relationship interventions, Marissa helps couples move away from recurring arguments and toward greater understanding, healthier communication, stronger emotional connection, and renewed trust.

Marissa's Therapeutic Approach

Every person brings a unique story into therapy, which is why Marissa believes treatment should reflect each client’s specific goals and needs.

She integrates several evidence-based approaches depending on each client’s goals, including:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Helping clients understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours influence one another while developing healthier thinking patterns and practical coping strategies.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Supporting clients as they make room for difficult emotions while building a life that reflects their deepest values.

Gottman Method Couples Therapy

Helping couples strengthen communication, deepen friendship, manage conflict more effectively, and rebuild trust after relationship injuries.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Helping clients identify existing strengths, recognize what is already working, and take practical steps toward meaningful change.

Bringing Baby Home

Supporting couples as they navigate the transition to parenthood.

Becoming parents is one of life’s greatest joys, but it is also one of the biggest changes a relationship can experience. Sleep deprivation, shifting roles, increased responsibilities, and changing expectations can place unexpected strain on even the strongest relationships.

Marissa has completed The Gottman Institute’s Bringing Baby Home Educator Training and provides this evidence-based program to help couples strengthen their relationship as they prepare for or adjust to life with a new baby. Drawing on decades of Gottman research, the program helps partners improve communication, manage conflict constructively, deepen friendship and emotional connection, and work together as a parenting team.

Whether you are expecting your first child or have recently welcomed a baby into your family, Marissa provides practical tools and compassionate support to help you protect your relationship while building a strong foundation for your growing family.

What Therapy Is Like with Marissa

Clients often describe Marissa as warm, approachable, thoughtful, and easy to talk with.

She believes therapy should feel like a collaborative conversation, not a place where clients feel judged or pressured. Her sessions combine empathy with honesty, creating space for clients to gain insight while learning practical tools they can begin using right away to feel more supported and equipped.

Her goal is that every client leaves each session feeling:

She is registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

A Little About Marissa

Outside of the therapy office, Marissa enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and the daily moments that create meaningful connection. She loves travelling, gardening, swimming, baking, exploring creativity through art and drawing, and spending time outdoors. She is also an enthusiastic cat lover who appreciates the comfort and companionship animals bring into our world. These experiences continue to remind her of the significance of balance, connection, and discovering joy in ordinary moments.

Marissa's Philosophy

Marissa believes people heal when they experience real connection, caring support, and the opportunity to better understand themselves. Her hope is that every client feels safe enough to explore difficult experiences while developing the confidence, resilience, and practical skills needed to create lasting change and move forward with more clarity. If there is one message, she hopes clients remember, it is this:

You do not have to cope with life’s challenges alone. One conversation can be the start of healing, and therapy can be the place where lasting change begins.
